Kashmir Tourism plans intensive promotional programmes

Kashmir Tourism department is participating in a number of promotional events and exhibitions within and outside the country with a view to promote the tourism products of the state.

As per a statement issued by the department on Monday, the department will showcase its tourism products at SATTE (South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange),  South Asia’s largest travel and tourism event, to be held from January 16- 18 at Greater Noida.

The event will be followed by another Road Show at Pune on January 21, where the department will be interacting with the media and also local travel industry of Maharashtra.

Director tourism Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Wani, said the department plans intensive promotion programmes to explore the tourism potential of the region.  Participating in biggest travel marts and organizing road shows within and outside the country will enable the department to showcase its products to the global market.

“We have already started marketing campaigns through advertisements in regional and national media which has fetched good results, as premier resorts like Gulmarg is packed with tourists. We are also showcasing our tourism products at the travel shows like SATTE in Delhi, OTM in Mumbai and IITM in Kolkatta in the month of January,” said the director.

Around nine road shows are also in the pipeline, to be held at Pune, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Kolkatta, Bengaluru, etc., to exploit the domestic market.

Road shows in Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand also in the promotional programmes to attract travellers from these countries where from the state recorded mass arrival of tourists.

Director tourism said the travel marts provide best platform for promotions as thousands of travel agents, tour operators, destination management companies from around 50 countries and 28 state tourism boards participate in the show and network with each other.
