Mahindra Lifespaces to develop medical tourism hub in Murud
Maharashtra state government has inked an agreement with realty firm Mahindra Lifespaces to develop the coastal town of Murud in Raigad district as a medical tourism and wellness destination. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 500 crore and it is expected to generate around 6,000 job opportunities.
Deep Mangal Developers, subsidiary of Mahindra Lifespace Developers (MLDL), will be executing the eco-friendly project in an area of 1,300-acre; which is expected to be the largest medical and wellness tourism investment in the state.
It is said that the project will strengthen Maharashtra’s impression as a global tourist destination. The project is developed as part of the state government’s tourism policy and will help drive investments, besides creating job opportunities and skill development.
“Tourism has the potential to significantly improve the lives of local communities, contribute to economic growth and attract investments. I am happy that Mahindra Lifespace Developers is taking the initiative to develop the project in Murud which will create a world-class tourist destination,” said Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister, Maharashtra.
“This new initiative by Mahindra Lifespaces will help put Murud firmly on the global tourism map. It will also catalyse the growth of the local tourism industry, creating new jobs and business opportunities along the way,” said Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group.
Development of Murud as a unique tourism destination will cater to the globally growing need of holistic healthcare and wellness tourism, besides promoting adventure and heritage tourism, said Arun Nanda, Chairman, Mahindra Lifespace Developers.
Last year, the Mahindra group had committed Rs 1,900 crore investment to develop a unique film-centric entertainment destination at Kandivali in northwestern Mumbai.
Established in 1994, Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. is the real estate and infrastructure development business of the USD 20.7 billion Mahindra Group.
