Khirsu – an unexplored picturesque tourist spot in Uttarakhand

Khirsu is an unexplored tourist destination in Uttarakhand. The place is slowly getting attention of the tourist, who are looking for off-beat destinations, away from the crowded popular tourist spots.  Located in the Pauri Garhwal district, Khirsu is situated at a distance of 20 km from the Pauri town. It is a picturesque and quaint place dotted with the oak, deodar trees and apple orchards.

This tiny Garhwal town offers a majestic view of the Himalayan ranges. It is a perfect destination for camping and trekking. It is a paradise for all nature lovers as one gets to enjoy the melodious chirping of the birds, long walks in the forests exploring new routes and capturing the beautiful sight of numerous Himalayan peaks in their memories.

Situated at an altitude of around 1700 meters, Khirsu provides breath-taking panoramic views of Himalayan range. Around 300 peaks can be seen from the town on a clear day. Away from the hustle-bustle of the famous tourist places, Khirsu is a perfect place for those who want to spend some peaceful time amidst the beautiful nature.

Step farming is the main occupation of the villagers. One of the main attractions of the place is the temple of Ghandiyal Devta.

The cheapest and convenient way to reach Khirsu is via railways. The nearest railway stations to Khirsu is Kotdwara (114 kms), Rishikesh (134kms), and Haridwar (154 kms). Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Kotdwara are connected to major Indian cities via railways. From all these cities regular buses and shared taxis ply for Pauri (20 kms from Khirsu) and would take around 3-4 hours to reach Pauri.
