China organizes tourism promotion event in Bucharest, Romania

China organizes a tourism promotion event in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania. The event named ‘Charming Beijing’ has kicked off on Monday, 3rd December 2018.

During the opening ceremony, Zhao Li, Beijing Chinese cultural counsellor in Romania, said Beijing wants to serve as a window. Through that window, people in Romania could see more about Beijing and China.

“Romania is committed to strengthening cooperation with China and attaches great importance to developing relations with China in various fields,” said Iulia Dangulea, counsellor from Romania’s Ministry of Tourism.

“There is a lot of space for promoting tourism between Romania and China and the Belt and Road Initiative can be a way of boosting tourism in both countries,” added Dangulea.

A documentary film about Beijing will be exhibited during the event for the visitors to experience the beauty and splendour of the capital city, its buildings and beautiful landmarks, including the Great Wall.

People can also enjoy the Beijing tourism photo exhibition, see Chinese calligraphy and take pictures dressed in traditional Chinese costumes. Besides, they can taste some of the best Chinese traditional foods.

As per statistics, in 2017 over 33,000 Chinese tourists came to Romania, an increase of more than 30 per cent over the previous year. In the same year, 12,000 Romanians visited China.

‘Charming Beijing’ is part of the events with the theme ‘2018 EU-China Tourism Year.’
