DTPC organizes boat rally in Alappuzha on 2nd November 2018

 

In order to convey the message that Alappuzha is ready to receive tourists to its backwaters, the Alappzuha District Tourism Promotion Council is organizing a campaign with the tag line ‘Back to Backwaters’.

The authorities are planning to have boat rally from the finishing point of the Nehru trophy boat race. The date of the rally is 2nd November 2018. Earlier the event was scheduled on 5th October, but postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions.

Nehru trophy boat race also will be conducted shortly, as informed by the officials from the DTPC. The organizers are seeking possibilities to invite Kerala Blasters team to attend the boat race.

The event will kick start at 8:00 Am, with a bike rally of women, which will start from Alappuzha beach and conclude at the boat race finishing point. A photo exhibition will be arranged at the venue, depicting how Alappuzha has survived the floods and returning to normal life. At 10:30 Am, Kadakampally Surendran, Tourism Minister, will flag of the boat rally. Tourism Director P Balakiran also will participate in the event.

200 house boats, 100 shikara boats and a bunch of small boats will participate in the rally. The boat rally will long for 3 hours. Those who attend the rally can have the chance to enjoy the scenic beauty of the backwaters for free.

With the rally, the authorities are aiming at giving the message to the tourists that Alappuzha is safe to travel in all respects. Meanwhile, tourists have already started to flow to Alappuzha, after the flood. The first group of tourists arrived Alappuzha was from Australia last month. Grand welcome was arranged for the first group of tourists by the organizers of the tour.

“Tourism activities in Alappuzha are now in full swing and the back waters and the house boats are eagerly waiting for more guests,” said M Malin, Secretary, District Tourism Promotion Council.
