Zari Hassan to become Tourism Ambassador of Uganda

Ugandan Ministry of Tourism has appointed Zari Hassan as the ambassador for Tourism in the country.

It was announced by State Minister of Tourism Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi after a meeting with Zari at his office.

Zarinah Hassan, commonly known as Zari, is a Ugandan socialite, musician and businesswoman, who resides in South Africa, where she runs a chain of schools and student hostels and other businesses.

Zari is the face of Danube furniture that recently opened a branch in Uganda with headquartered in UAE. She is also the Mercedes Benz brand ambassador in South Africa and a brand ambassador for Softcare Diapers in Tanzania among others.

Suubi and Zari to hold talks on how best they can promote Uganda as a top tourist destination and find suitable ways to market the country’s tourism products.

Tourism is one of the major foreign exchange earners of Uganda and with the arrival of Zari as the ambassador; the ministry is expecting a boost in the sector.

Earlier this year, Uganda Wildlife Authority, an institution affiliated to the Ministry of Tourism appointed the ‘Sitya Loss’ singer, Eddy Kenzo, as a Tourism Ambassador. It is hoped that Zari could play a similar role or even better.
