Odisha conducts tourism roadshow in Bangkok

Cultural Programme at Roadshow in Bangkok

Aiming at promoting tourism in the state, Odisha Tourism department has conducted a roadshow in Bangkok. During the event, Archana Patnaik, Director of Tourism, made a presentation highlighting the programmes implemented by the state to enhance the infrastructure and facilities to lure tourists – domestic as well as foreign. B2B meetings were part of the roadshow, for the various stakeholders in the tourism industry to present their products.

While speaking at the event, Abbagani Ramu, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India at Thailand, appreciated Odisha’s efforts to develop tourism as a major employment generating industry. He also mentioned the upcoming Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup-2018, for which Odisha is the host state.

“Tourism is the priority sector of State Government. Since Odisha receives substantial tourists from Southeast Asia. Road-shows  of this kind would definitely help in increasing the footfall,” said Vishal Dev, Tourism and Sports Secretary.

“We are working on strengthening the cultural and maritime connection with the region. We further aim to reiterate our efforts by organizing events such as Make-in-Odisha to invite investors to exploit the tourism opportunity,” he added.

More than 140 participants including leading tour operators, travel agents, trade and diplomatic mission representatives from different countries attended the event organised in association with Embassy of India at Thailand and FICCI.
