Parliamentary committee extends support to Kerala Tourism

The Parliamentary Committee has extended its helping hands and offered help to the flood affected Kerala. The Committee gave the assurance during a meeting of Kovalam-based tourism/hospitality operators held on September 10.

The tourism fraternity from Kerala has requested the Committee to include the state in the promotional videos of Government of India. The Tourism Department has assured that Kerala would get good visibility in the next set of promotional videos brought out by the ministry.

The state tourism professionals have also requested the Committee to include Kerala in the Leave Travel Concession of central government employees. The team has also brought it inti the notice of the Committee that the tourism sector has incurred a loss of Rs 2500 crore due to the devastating flood.

The tourism ministry said the focus is to bring in more Chinese tourists to the country. E M Najeeb, Senior Vice President of IATO; KTM President Baby Mathew Somatheeram; Jose Dominic of CGH Earth Hotels; P K Anish Kumar, President of ATTOI; M R Narayanan of Poovar Island Resorts and Abraham Johny of Intersight Holidays attended the meeting.
