Singapore Airlines plans to increase capacity from Delhi & Ahmedabad

Singapore Airlines (SIA) said it will be replacing its Boeing B777 with B787-10 on the Delhi-Singapore route by the end of October with an aim to increase seat capacity from India.  The SIA 787-10s are configured with 337 seats compared to the previous aircraft which had 266 seats. With these 71 seats extra, the capacity will increase by 10 [er cent.

“To promote Boeing 787-10 services, we are also announcing special premium economy and business class fares to San Francisco and Los Angeles (Rs 88,000 & Rs 188,000, respectively),” said David Lim, Singapore Airlines, General Manager-India.

SIA also plans to operate the world’s largest commercial service from Singapore to New York 7 times per week and non-stop Singapore to Los Angeles flights 10 times per week. Additionally, the frequency of non-stop San Francisco services will also be increased from 7 to 10 flights per week.

“We are putting the airline to the forefront to satisfy the Indian customers to fly to the US. In fact from November onwards, we are also increasing the capacity from Ahmedabad to Singapore from 4 times weekly flights to 5, which is a 25 per cent increase in capacity,” he added.

The airline flies 17-times a weekly services from Mumbai to Singapore, using the Airbus 380 and Airbus 350 on the route during the weekdays and a Boeing 777 during the weekend.“From this October-end, we will be increasing the frequency to 3 times weekly services to Auckland, New Zealand. We have restructured our Australia flight and currently, we have 150 weekly services to Australia. By December-end Singapore Airlines will have 53-flights-a-week flying to the US. The new ultra-long-range aircraft A350-900 which will be delivered to us in September, which will be deployed on the Singapore US route,” Lim said.
