Poland woos Kannada film makers to shoot there

Poland and Karnataka are joining hands for promotion of tourism in Poland.  Adam Burakowski, Ambassador of Polund has urged the Karnataka Cehief Minister HD Kumara Swami to ask the film industry to shoot their films in Poland.

Burakowski, a big fan of Hindi films and the Kannada super star (late) Rajkumar, said that his country was ready to offer an upfront 30 per cent subsidy of the cost of a movie if Kannada filmmakers shoot their films entirely in Poland. He was talking to the Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru, on Tuesday, 15th August 2018

The Poland Ambassador told that his country’s policy encourages filmmakers to shoot their films in Poland. “The programme of incentives will start in October 2018,” added the ambassador.

“I understand Hindi, love Hindi songs; maybe in future, I will also learn Kannada,” said Burakowski, while reiterating that the subsidy is applicable only if the the entire film is shot in Poland.

Poland, the Central European country, is the sixth most populous country in the European Union, with an area of 3.13 lakh square kilo meters — roughly the size of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu put together.

Poland’s plans to provide subsidy for shooting Kannada films in Poland will enhance the economy of the region where the shooting is taking place. It will also enhance tourist engagements in the area. Generation of employment for the local people was also a factor for considering the subsidy for film shooting in Poland.
