A new tourist township, ‘Navya Ayodhya’ is coming up in Uttar Pradesh, near Ayodhya. The township will be spread across 500 acres of land on Faizabad-Gorakhpur National Highway with an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore. The initial project report is being prepared by a London-based consultancy.

The proposal from the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department is awaiting state government approval to start the works.

One of the main features of the township is there will be a special place named the ‘Nirvana Abode’— a destination to attain ‘moksha’ (salvation).

The Navya Ayodhya project is expected to start by the end of this year, once it the state government approval is attained. The proposed project will have amenities like five-star hotels, riverside resorts, commercial and residential plots.

“The plan of ‘moksha’ destination is an important part of Navya Ayodhya. There will be Studio apartments near the banks of Saryu to those who want to spend their last days of their life in Ayodhya. One studio apartment would cost around Rs 20-25 lakh,” said MK Mishra, Executive Engineer of Faizabad Development Authority.

“To attract tourists from around the world, it was necessary to develop a new township. Since Ayodhya is a bit more crowded, the township was planned near Manjha Baretha on Faizabad-Gorakhpur national highway in an area of approximately 500 acres,” said Anil Kumar Pathak, District Magistrate Faizabad.
