Out of the four Mini Conclaves, two conclaves specific to tourism sector will be held in Tehri and Nainital on August 7 and August 10 respectively. “The mega Investment Meet in October will only have a limited focus on Tourism, like infrastructure development, rope-ways, etc., while the Mini Conclaves will explore the untapped potential in areas like adventure tourism, culinary tourism, etc. Infrastructure development around Tehri Lake will be another major subject in the discussions,” said Satpal Maharaj, Minister of Tourism, Uttarakhand.

The Government aims at converting the Himalayan state to be a hub for adventure tourism activities like skiing, heli-skiing etc. The government will seek support from French government to extend the ropeway at Auli to Gorson, so that the visitors can get the panoramic view of Himalayas. “We will also ask France to open a unit of the Data Centre at Chamonix at Auli,” added the Minister.

“Everything associated with Indian tourism is in the State, especially the Ganges and the Himalayas and therefore government is committed to bring in strict guidelines for all sorts of nature and adventure activities,” said the Minister.
