Increase in foreign tourists’ spent in Brazil

Foreign tourists’ spent in Brazil has been showing an increasing tendency in recent years. During the first half of the year 2018, the income earned from foreign tourists has increased by 5.94 per cent when compared to the previous year, as stated by an official of the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism.

Around 3.15 million foreigners visited Brazil during this time, which is 8 per cent more than that of last year. The total spent for the period is USD 3.24 billion, according to the ministry.

Tourism is one of the major revenue earners of Brazil, whose total contribution to GDP reached 163.0 billion dollars in 2017, which is 7.9 per cent of the total revenue earned, as informed by the World Travel and Tourism Council, a London-based forum for the industry.
