Egypt promotes Culture and Christian Pilgrimage in India market

India, being one of the best source markets for Egypt, has contributed to the Egyptian tourism with over 30 per cent growth in the tourist arrivals in 2017. Realising the potential of its source market and draw more tourists to the country, Egypt Tourism is conducting roadshows in Indian cities to promote its cultural, Christian pilgrimage and MICE offering.

Christian pilgrimage is one of the important focus areas of Egypt Tourism and they are focussing mainly on Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kochi for promoting this. The tourism department is organising roadshows in Mumbai, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.  Egypt Tourism has conducted four-city roadshows in 2017 too, but this time Delhi got replaced by Kochi as the department things that there is great potential in Kerala.

“Egypt Tourism is targeting IT, pharma and retail segments for MICE. We are very happy with the response from India and expect 1,30,000-1,40,000 tourists from India,” said Ismail Amer, Egyptian Tourism Counsellor.

Egypt Tourism has received around 150 groups from India in 2017.
