With the aim to boost the tourism sector in Tamil Nadu, the state has organized a partnership meet in Hyderabad on Wednesday, 11th July 2018. The state is looking for more tourists from Telangana.

Tamil Nadu Tourism Deputy Director Thiru Venugopal said, “We are striving to keep our position in the tourism industry of India and looking for new markets.” Tamil Nadu has been one of the favourite tourist destinations in India, for domestic and foreign tourists and this initiative is targeting to promote less known places in the state and thus attract more tourists.

“Telengana people are mainly looking for places of pilgrimage and hill stations and Tamil Nadu is having such sites in abundance.” said Venugopal.

About 18 trade partners, including tour operators, travel agents and hoteliers, are part of the meet and have been brought to the city so that they can interact with Hyderabad-based travel agents to enhance the tourist numbers to the state. The state has also plans to conduct similar promotional activities in Bangaluru.

Besides the well-worn temple tourism of the state, the ministry also plan to promote Nilgiris Mountain Trail, wildlife tourism, hill stations and beach tourism among others.

The Tamil Nadu State has been in first place in terms of tourist footfalls in foreign and domestic sector for three years in a row between 2014 and 2016.
