One-day workshop for tourist guides in Kohima

Nagaland Tourism Department has organized a one-day workshop on “Tour guide” in Kohima on June 25. Fifty-three tour guides from all over Nagaland have participated in the event.

Neteno Yhoshu,Ddirectorate of Tourism stated in a press release that, the first resource person Richard Belho, architect from ‘Zynorique Initiatives ’ spoke about the career prospects in the tourism industry. Discussing the economic system, he stated that Nagas needed to work out a business ecosystem and systematic procedures for a scenario where successful businesses can be operated.

Zynorique Initiatives is a registered society under the Govt. of Nagaland. The primary objective is to train and impart creative skills to the local Naga youth and to motivate the younger generation to use their creativity and imagination in creating job opportunities, to protect the environment, to preserve and promote art and culture of Nagaland.

David Angami, president Nagaland Tourism Association shared the guidelines and protocols for tour guides, emphasizing on the importance of good communication skills, organizational skills and ideas on promoting business. He reiterated the importance of personal discipline, because the tour guide acts as an ambassador for Nagaland.

Earlier, Tourism secretary T. Mhabemo Yanthan, explained the importance of fluency in communicating with tourists and efficiency in delivering their service.
