Travellers to receive an official welcome soon

Union Tourism Minister Alphons KJ has suggested a small change in welcoming the foreign tourists coming to India for vacation. He feels that it would be better if a representative from the government be in attendance when the tourists arrive at the airport, to receive them. “The central ministry is considering receiving the foreign tourists coming to our country by assigning government representatives,” said Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam. He was talking to the media after the Incredible India tourism roadshow in various American States.

The minister and team had dialogues with tour operators from various states of America like New York, Chicago and Houston. Joint Secretary Suman Billa, alongwith other officials from various departments, visited the states with the minister. The minister has also participated in a convention organized by the Federation of Malayali Associations of America in Chicago.

“Discussions with the Consular Generals and the Indian community of various states could assure more foreign investments in India,” said the minister. This travel could identify St. Louis city as a new market and the Indian community were exhorted to invest in India.

The minister also visited Mar Jacob Angadiath, Bishop of St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago and requested the community to invest in their motherland in abundance. He explained them of the investment opportunities prevailing in the country and hopes the requests will be materialized.
