ISRO successfully launches IRNSS-1I
Indian space research organisation (ISRO), has successfully launched the IRNSS-1I satellite into orbit earlier today from Sriharikota. ISRO used launch vehicle PSLV-C14 for the mission, as it becomes the 8th satellite dedicated for indigenous global positioning system.
Meanwhile, the previously launched GSLV rocket carrying the GSAT 6A had been lost due to a technical glitch losing over Rs 270 crore. Hence, ISRO on its part, made history through a second back to back launch. The Regional Navigation Satellite System-1I (IRNSS-1I), that weigh over 1,425 kg was made by a private firm named Alpha Design Technologies in association with ISRO.
“I am confident that the NavIC constellation will serve the underprivileged and unserved for years to come. I am really grateful to the entire ISRO family for having worked this hard and making IRNSS-1I a success,” said K Sivan, ISRO chairman.
