Sri Lanka ready to launch long-overdue campaign

The multi-year, US$45 million Sri Lankan campaign is all set to be launched later this month. During the second week of January 2018, Following the furore broke out after the chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), Udaya Nanayakkara, refused to abide by the tourism minister’s order to step down, the campaign again got delayed.

The US $650,000 campaign will roll out on CNN platforms by the end of April, while a larger, six-month digital marketing campaign targeting China, India, the UK, Germany and France worth US$3.5 million is expected to be ready by end of May.

Sri Lanka will also launch a US$41 million global marketing campaign as part of a three-year programme later this year.

Sri Lanka is targeting 2.3 million arrivals this year from 2.1 million in 2017.
