Rowing Federation to protect world heritage sites

The world rowing federation also known as Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron (FISA), founded by rowing delegates from France, Switzerland, Belgium, Adriatica, and Italy, have taken an oath to protect the world heritage sites.

The promise was developed after the FISA‘s clean water partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

FISA admits that large sports events can give an adverse effect on the location as well as the environment, and hence the association had made certain protocols to protect these sites.

UNESCO was pleased by the federation’s decision, as they look forward to other sports federation to take identical policies into practice, said Mechtild Rössler, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
