Walking through the heart of Lisbon

1.    Jeronimos Monastery

It is a sacred religious site and historically important landmark of Lisbon Situated in Belem, this gigantic iconic structure was built in 1502. It is a masterpiece of Manueline and Gothic architecture.

 2.    Belem Tower

Jeronimos monastery along with Belem tower is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. The tower known as Torre de Belem in Portuguese is a symbol of maritime discoveries the country made in the past. It is situated at the mouth of the river Tagus, on a small island in it, and is a gate way to Lisbon.

3.    Pombaline Lower Town

It is one of the main attractions in Lisbon. Built after 1755 lisbon earthquake, It covers about 2, 35,620 square meter of central Lisbon. Pombaline Lower Town is one of the first example of earthquake resistant construction.

Parca do comercio( commerce square in English) is a part of Pombaline Lower Town , biggest square in Europe, situated on the bank of river Tagus.The centrepiece of the ensemble was the equestrian statue of King José.

It opens towards Augusta Street, which links the square with the other traditional Lisbon square, the Rossio. Restauradores Square Praça da Figueira are other attractions in pombaline lower town

4.    Castelo de São Jorge- st. George castle

The castle is the highest point in the city. It gives a unique opportunity to feel the city’s relationship with the river Tagus.

5. Vasco da Gam Tower

A 145-meter tower commemorating Vasco da Gama’s voyage to India, is built in the shape of a billowing sail, it gives breath-taking views of the entire city.

6. Lisbon Oceanarium

7. National Tile Museum and the Coach Museum

Coach Museum, Lisbon

These are two museum that one should never miss in Lisbon visit. Tile museum tells the story of the tile in Portugal from its first uses on 16th century walls to the present day. Coach museum has unrivalled collection of carriages, with fine examples from the 18th century, decorated with paintings and gild work.
