Free yoga training session at Sharjah Flag Island

In conjunction with the International Day of Yoga, The Flag Island, One of the popular leisure, tourist and family destination in the United Arab Emirates, will curate a special yoga event on 22 June, 2019. The event will be held from 05:30 p.m. to 07:00 p.m., in collaboration with Fitness First, Sharjah Triathlon, and Indian Association Sharjah. The activity is aimed at promoting awareness about yoga and its benefits for physical, mental and psychological health.

Many other activities are also organized in the Flag Island this summer. With women’s run sessions and roller skating available, children, youth as well as adults will find an activity to match their need and interest. The idea is to bring all members of a family together to take part in an outdoor leisure activity at the same venue.

Women’s run session

The women’s run session, launched on 11 May, 2019 and available up to the end of September 2019, is held every Tuesday from 07:30 p.m. to 08:30 p.m. The participants are supervised by experienced sportspersons and professional athletes. Held in cooperation with Sharjah Triathlon and Fitness First, the free women-only activity is open to all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced, at The Flag Island’s running track, which meets the highest international standards.

Roller-skating

Roller-skating was commenced at The Flag Island in October 2018. Children aged 2 – 15 years can participate in courses that will be available right through summer. They will be trained by expert coaches from the Rock Sports Centre. The course consists of eight sessions held on weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) from 5:30 p.m. to 06:30 p.m.

Participants in the sports activities can enjoy refreshments from a healthy menu prepared by Jones the Grocer restaurant on the premises.

“The ongoing inclusive fun-filled leisure, sporting and educational events cater to visitors of all age groups. The engaging activities will contribute to developing their talents and honing their skills, in addition to encouraging them to adopt a healthy lifestyle,” said Khuloud Salim Al Junaibi, General Manager of The Flag Island.

“We offer a spectrum of events to our visitors during the summer break. The Flag Island enables visitors to take part in a variety of activities under the supervision of a host of experts and athletes,” added Al Junaibi.
