Arunachal Pradesh DoT launches ‘Adopt a Vilalge’ programme

Department of Tourism, Arunachal Pradesh has declared Ledum village in Bilat Circle of East Siang district as the ‘cleanest village’, as per the “Adopt a Village” programme in relation with the National Tourism Day.

“Ledum has full potentials to be a Model Tourism Village,” said Tate Tata, District Tourism Officer, while addressing the stakeholders and resources persons and explained the aims and objectives of the programme.

He then appreciated the local committee members, village authority and common public as a whole for making Ledum a plastic-free village.   He urged also to continue the ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ programme on regular basis to keep the village neat and clean.

Talut Siram, General Secretary of ABK, East Siang District, explained the importance of preservation of wildlife and its related benefits for Tourism development. Yane Dai, MD, Donyi Hanggo Tours & Travel and Home-Stay operators of East Siang District also spoke on occasion.

Gaon Buras (panchayat leaders) in their speeches informed that the gathering that they have already banned hunting of wild animals and birds.  Other activities of the day were field survey of the village, promotion of homestay, presentation of local handlooms & handicrafts, local cuisine and preservation of local architect.
