Tourism stakeholders in North Kerala launches Malabar Tourism Society

With an aim to promote the Northern part of Kerala, the travel and tourism stakeholders have come together to form Malabar Tourism Society. The organization, which is scheduled to be launched on January 12, 2019, aims to develop the tourism in Malabar (North Kerala) region and promote six districts of Northern Kerala collectively by forming a dedicated Malabar circuit.

Malabar Tourism Society will be officially launched by Kerala Tourism Minister, Kadakampilly Surendran at the Alhind Convention Centre, CAlicut Tower in Kozhikode at 5 pm. “MTS brings all tourism-related service providers under one umbrella to work for the development of tourism in Malabar and to promote jointly the unexplored destinations of Malabar region,” said M P M Mubashir, President, MTS and Executive Director, Alhind Group of Companies.

The society is planning to conduct a dedicated Malabar Travel Mart (MTM), in September this year. “We are planning to conduct Malabar Travel Mart in September, the planning of which is in the initial stages, keeping in mind that it should not clash with any other travel fairs in Kerala,” added Mubashir.

The only destination that is being promoted in this region is Wayanad, under the leadership of Wayanad Tourism Organization. The northern part of Kerala has made hidden, unexplored, virgin destinations, which is yet to be developed. The society aims to develop, market and project unexplored places in the northern Kerala. Our intention is to promote six districts of northern Kerala, from Palghat to Kasargod, by forming a circuit and designing travel packages of four to five nights duration. Since the north Kerala region is untouched, we need the support of all the other organizations including the Kerala Travel Mart Society and Wayanad Tourism Organization to move forward with our vision,” said Mubashir.

The MTS will have representations from hospitals, ayurvedic centres, tour operators, travel agents, airline companies and hospitality majors. “We also plan to include restaurants and homeo practitioners, but it will be done at a later stage,” said Mubashir.

The website of the Malabar Tourism Society will be launched by MLA Pradeepkumar and the first member will be handed over by Dr M K Muneer MLA on January 10. Sajan V C, General Manager of Hotel Hyson Heritage is the General Secretary and Karan Bakshi of Raviz Kadavu is the Vice President of the society.
