Kerala Police urges safe and peaceful New Year celebration

While the entire world is about to bid adieu to year 2018, the people of Kerala are also getting ready to celebrate the last night of the year and to welcome 2019. Probably December 31st will be the liveliest night in Kerala, where the party may continue even after midnight.

Thousands of foreign tourists have have also arrived in Kerala and getting ready to celebrate New Year in different popular destinations.

While everyone getting ready for the New Year frenzy, the police department have been taking all the necessary arrangements to ensure safe and peaceful New Year celebrations across the State.

“Police will take strong action to prevent unlawful activities, including drunk driving,” said Loknath Behra, State Police Chief.

“Hotels and party organizers had been asked to inform the police if the festivities go out of hand,” said the DGP.

Behra said, the police would conduct special inspection drives, as part of the general safety measures and to prevent road accidents and the police force would provide all assistance for the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

The police would be deployed in all public places and roads without causing hindrance to the festivities, he said.

Special focus would be given to the safety of women, children and the aged at the festival locations, he said.
