TAAI convention begins in Kunming

The 65th annual convention and exhibition of Travel Agents’ Association of India (TAAI) begins in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province of China. The convention aims to strengthen more people to people contacts thereby enhancing tourism exchanges between the two countries.

The 3-day convention was inaugurated by the Vice Governor of Yunnan Province, Mme. LiMalin in the presence of He Ligui, Director General of Tourism of Yunnan Province, Li Bijian, Minister and DCM, Embassy of China in New Delhi.

“There is huge potential to develop tourism relationships between India and China as “both China and India are developing countries with rapid economic development increased living standards, fast growing middle class” thus presenting a “golden opportunity for tourism development”. “Before us is the tourist market broad enough for both sides to explore,” said Li Malin.

“The convention will act as a “model platform” for further boosting closer tourism exchanges between the two countries. With the convention Yunnan and Kunming will become household names for travel trade community in India. As per the spirit of the convention and its theme ‘Tourism Beyond Boundaries’, said Sunil Kumar, President, TAAI.

Department of Tourism and Culture, Government of Yunnan, has signed an MoU with the Travel Agents Association of India for tourism promotion, at the 2nd day of Travel Agents Association of India’s 65th Convention.

Located in the Yunnan province of China, Kunming is an ideal golf destination and the TAAI Convention started with a golf tournament with players participating from both the countries. Known for popularising unknown destinations, TAAI has brought Kunming on the tourism map.
