Kiran aircraft to attract tourists in Akkulam Tourist Village

As a part of the beautification programmes, Akkulam Tourist Village to have a Kiran Aircraft of the Indian Air force. Kerala Tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran dedicated the aircraft to the public on 13th November 2018.

“Having this aircraft at the tourist village to be considered an appreciation from the Indian Air force, to the various developmental activities carried out by Kerala Tourism in the tourist spot,” said the minister.

Since 1968, Kiran MK1 has been the training aircraft for the Hyderabad Air force Academy. “We hope the aircraft will attract everyone coming to the tourist village,” said B Suresh, Air Marshal, Southern Air Command-in-Chief.

As per sources, around 6000 pilots have got trained in the aircraft so far. It was also part of the aerobatics demonstration team of the Indian Air Force -Surya Kiran. The authorities expect that the air-craft, which has been part of the history of the Indian Air force, will become one of the major attractions of the Akkulam Tourist Village.

Usha Titus, executive chairperson, Akkulam destination management council, and V R Sini, Akkulam ward counsellor, were also present on the occasion.
