UNWTO appoints Pansy Ho as tourism ambassador

Pansy Ho, group executive chairman and managing director of Shun Tak Holdings, and co-chairperson and executive director of MGM China Holdings, has been appointed by the United Nation’s World Tourism Organisation as a Tourism Ambassador, on making her the first ever ambassador in the region.

Ho will be promoting global tourism development alongside other appointed Tourism Ambassadors, in her role as UNWTO Tourism Ambassador.

Ho has been given the title for her contributions in promoting regional and global tourism cooperation and sustainable tourism.

She currently oversees the Global Tourism Economy Research Center, which was created in 2011. She is also a founding member of the Global Tourism Economy Forum (GTEF), an event that has been held in Macau annually since 2012.

She is also an executive committee member of the World Travel and Tourism Council, serves as vice chairman of the China Chamber of Tourism, and was also the first-ever official ambassador to the Pacific Asia Travel Association Foundation.

“The ambassador honour is indeed a recognition and affirmation of the efforts of the Global Tourism Economy Research Center and GTEF to facilitate global tourism cooperation,” said Ho, on the occasion of receiving the accolade.

Pansy Ho is the eldest daughter of Macau gaming tycoon Stanley Ho and the richest woman in Hong Kong.
