Uday Samudra celebrates World Food Day in a unique way

Uday Samudra Resorts in Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram, has celebrated World Food Day at their hotel by organising a painting competition on October 16. The objective of the competition was to promote awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all.

“World Food Day is a chance to show our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) to achieve #ZeroHunger by 2030,” said Raja Gopaal Iyer CEO, UDS Group.

Adv. M Vincent inaugurated the painting competition by cutting the ribbon and painting the logo of the World Food Day. Around 40 students from grade 4 to grade 12 from various schools in Thiruvananthapuram have participated in the painting competition.

The students were categorized into three groups based on their grades and one of the following topics were given to each group for; ‘Don’t waste the food’, ‘Produce more with less’, ‘Adopt more healthy and sustainable diet’.

The judging team selected the winners following the criteria such as Interpretation and the clarity of the theme, Creativity and originality, Quality of artistic composition and overall design based on the theme, perfection and overall impression of the art.

The first, second & third prize were selected from each category of students. The prizes were given away by Dr. Raja Warrier, Director Center for Performing & Visual Arts, Kerala University. Participation certificate were distributed to all the participants.
