Uttarakhand is a complete package of tourism, is an ideal destination: Modi

Nature, adventure, culture, yoga, meditation— Uttarakhand has all that it needs to be a complete tourism package, an ideal destination, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the Uttarakhand investors’ summit. “And now, with the introduction of a separate tourism policy by the Uttarakhand government, tourism has gained the status of an industry,” he said.

“During the last four years, many efforts have been made to increase connectivity in Uttarakhand. Highway, railway, airway – Uttarakhand is being connected in every way. Chardham all-weather road and Rhishikesh-Karanprayag rail projects have been progressing at a fast pace. Proper connectivity in the state will have a positive impact on the tourism sector of Uttarakhand,” said the Prime Minister.

Identifying thirteen destinations in thirteen districts of the state and planning to develop them as tourist spots will help create more job opportunities for the youth in tourism sector, opined Modi.

Modi also said that Uttarakhand has immense possibilities of becoming an organic state. He said work has already been started to make it one through cluster-based organic farming. “Centre is also putting in efforts so that the organic produce can successfully reach the market,” he said.

He also spoke of the measures taken for investor facilitation in the State. Modi spoke of the fast pace of road construction, railway line construction, new metro systems, high speed rail project, and dedicated freight corridors. The Prime Minister also mentioned the progress made in the aviation sector, and in providing housing, power, clean fuel, health and banking services to the people. He said the recently launched Ayushman Bharat scheme will spur the development of medical infrastructure in the tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
