Heavy rain lashes Delhi-NCR; Flights delayed

Heavy rains reported in several parts of Delhi and NCR today morning. The Met department forecasted spells of rains and thundershowers during the day.

There were waterlogging reported from parts of Delhi on Saturday. The rains on Wednesday had affected normal life and disrupted the traffic movement in several areas of Delhi and NCR. The Safdarjung observatory recorded 24.6 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours whereas the Palam observatory recorded 19.9 mm rainfall during the same period.

Among the areas affected were the Modi Mill area, South Avenue, Bhairon Marg, Lajpat Nagar market, Kela Ghat and Kashmiri Gate. The Delhi Traffic police has issued multiple traffic alerts for commuters and posted visuals of waterlogged roads on its official Twitter handle.

“We are expecting delays in flight departures and arrivals at the airport. We advise you to keep track of your flight status in advance and leave a little early for the airport,” tweeted IndiGo .

Vistara tweeted saying “UK832 Chennai-Delhi flight has been diverted to Amritsar due to bad weather at Delhi.”
