Holland nationals help flood affected people in Kerala

Monic and Marly of Holland hand over the relief materials to Shaji Sebastian, Pala SI, in the presence of A B Jose, Mahatma Gandhi Foundation Chairman and other dignitaries.

Kerala has been receiving relief aids from around the world, on the event of the devastating floods that affected many lives. In Kottayam, two Holland nationals have come forward to extend their helping hands to the flood affected people. Monica Venena and Marly Vo Di Gomtter, studying at the Shanthi Yoga Center at Pala, were those compassionate foreigners, who have shown mercy to the miserable.

They came to Pala to learn Yoga one month before. They could witness the disaster caused by the rain and flood and the news came through the media showing the intensity of the catastrophe made their hearts melt. They discussed with the the director of Shanthi Yoga to help the flood affected people. Accordingly they brought more than Rs 1 lakh worth relief materials to the nearby Mahatma Gandhi Foundation, a collection center of relief aids for the camps.

They gave nighties, dhothies, towels, undergarments, soaps, pastes, bottled drinking water, skirts, sanitary napkins, washing powder, bleaching powder etc., to the collection center

A B Jose, Chairman of the Foundation and Shaji Sebastian, SI of Pala, who is also an advisory committee member of the foundation, have received the relief items from Monic and Marly.

Samji Pazheparampi, Foundation Secretary; Abhilash Girish, Shanthi Yoga Center Director, other dignitaries like K P Mohan Dhas, Nithish Geo Varghese, Toni Valamparampil, Rajesh Kaimal, Arjun Palathunka, VT Vidhyadharan, Roy Book Media etc. also were present in the function.

“We will try to collect more materials from our friends from our country and will made it available for the flood affected people of Kerala,” said Monic and Marly.

The officials of the foundation said that the collected items will be delivered to the relief camps in Kottayam and Idukki.
