Yoga naturopathy center will be started in the state – CM

“Government has been taking necessary steps to start a Yoga naturopathy center with international standards”, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was inaugurating the event organised by the state government in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, to observe International Yoga Day

“Yoga is a form of exercise that helps in keeping several diseases away. It does not belong to any religion. There were efforts underway to hijack Yoga and colour it with religious connotations.  Such efforts should be discouraged”, he added.

“Yoga is the most effective form of exercise to maintain one’s health. See it only as an exercise. There is no need to see Yoga as a religious practice. One should be secular in nature while practicing Yoga,” Pinarayi Vijayan said at the event organised at Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium. Efforts to portray Yoga as part of a religion should be resisted, he added.

“There are deliberate efforts being made to create misunderstandings about Yoga. Some people are trying to link religious sookthas (hymns) with Yoga and are trying to create misunderstandings among people,” he said.

“Even developed countries are showing keen interest in Yoga. It is an effective way to cure most of the life style evoked illnesses. Only those who think positively can utilize yoga in a fruitful way. Through yoga, people can have a compassionate heart to love the society”, concluded the CM.
