Kerala welcomes tourists to enjoy monsoon season

The Kerala Tourism has come up with the ‘Come Out and Play’ campaign in a way to lure the domestic tourists to Kerala during monsoon season. The state will gift the tourists a chance to revive nature, rekindle relationships, and reconnect with life by involving in activities like trekking, Ayurveda massage, river rafting more. The tourism department aims at bringing tourists from powerful domestic markets like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi & NCR, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal.

As per Tourism Director P Balakiran IAS, the campaign primarily concentrates on ‘PLAY’ with accordance to families, which will reconnect the families. Various promotional methods have been used by Kerala Tourism to promote the campaign. To entice the tourists, the campaign has been running in cinema halls and radio, in spite of the marketing at national level through print, television and digital media. The tourists can involve in any outdoor activity like slow cycling, crossing a log bridge, hopping on one leg etc and post the photos on social media with the hashtag #ComeOutandPlay. Lucky winners will be gifted with Come Out and Play merchandise.

Recent trends show that many Arab tourists who love to spend big, visits Kerala to experience the monsoon, have medical treatment, rejuvenate through Ayurveda therapy and explore various prime tourist spots. Kerala has had around 70,000 tourists from Saudi Arabia alone during the monsoon season in last few years. Kerala had a tourist footfall of 61,42,190 tourists during the 2017 monsoon, marking an increase of 5,06,623 tourists when compared to the monsoon season in 2016.
