Kerala tourism Re-brands Guest Houses

Kerala government is on a mission to rebrand its existing guest houses functioning under its tourism department. Around 24 guest houses, functioning in and out of Kerala are chosen for the facelift, with all modern amenities that a guest demands.

Additionally, new Wi-Fi Hotspots, guest house logo, menu card, table mat, guest folder, linen as well as, POS swiping machine for an effortless cashless transaction for the guest was introduced. The rebranding was inaugurated by State Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran today.

Tourism Director P.Bala Kiran IAS; Tourism Secretary Rani George IAS; S.S Thampi Principal General Manager BSNL; Hari Vijayan Deputy Vice President HDFC Bank; and M Raghudasan; Additional Director, Hospitality also attended the inaugural function.

“The government plans to build new 18-room guest houses at Sabarimala, 36 additional rooms for Sultan Bathery guest house and new infrastructure development for guest houses in Pathanamthitta and Kozhikode,” said the Minister.

Guest houses will also be provided with free Wi-fi under the BSNL high-speed internet scheme. As per the plan new wi-fi hotspots are installed in Trivandrum, Kollam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Kasargod guest houses.

The government also introduced Point of sales (POS) system for encouraging effortless, cashless transactions. HDFC Bank has been selected by tender to offer swiping machines, that works under (zero service charge) at different guest houses across Kerala.
