Kozhikode beach to be differently-abled friendly

The Calicut District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) is planning to build wheelchair-friendly entrances at major tourism destinations in the city. The first in the list will be the much famed Kozhikode beach.

Exclusive parking slots for the vehicles driven by differently-abled will also be arranged as part of the project. The guarded parking spaces will be designed to ensure easy entry and exit.

The disabled-friendly tourism spots is also expected to attract foreign tourists. Of the 1.3 crore domestic tourists and 10.7 lakh international tourists arriving in Kerala, 10 per cent belongs to the differently-abled category.
