Mall of Travancore opens in Kerala capital

Malabar Group’s much-awaited gift for Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, Mall of Travancore was inaugurated officially by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at 3 pm today. “It’s my delight to inaugurate a Mall from Malabar Group. The Mall’s eco-friendly practices and construction is similar to that of the Haritha Keralam initiative,” said Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan after inaugurating the Mall of Travancore. “The Malls responsible initiative of adding local farmers to trade is appreciable,” he added.

The mall follows eco-friendly practices in terms of waste management. Also, it is the first mall to have a Swachh Bharat Certification and Zero Waste International Certification.

K.T Jaleel, Minister for Local-Self Government, Welfare of Minorities and Haj Pilgrimage; E. Chandra Shekharan, Minister for Revenue and Housing; T.P Rama Krishnan, Minister for Labour and Excise; A.K Shaseendran, Minister for Transport; K. Raju, Minister for Forest and Animal Husbandry; Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan, and P.K Kunhalikutty MP inaugurated various stores in the Mall. BJP State President Kummanam Rajasekharan, Mayor V.K Prashanth, KPCC President M.M Hassan, MLA Munner and O. Rajagopal were also present at the inaugural function.

The Mall, located just near the International airport, will deliver a unique shopping experience to the people of Trivandrum. “The Mall has been built up with the consistent handwork and perseverance of Malabar Group representatives for the past 12 years”, said M P Ahmed, Malabar Group Chairman.

With an investment of over 400 crores, the mall is spread across 6.5 lakh sq ft and houses 3 floors, that act as an umbrella for over 300 global brands including Adidas, Allen Solly, Apple, Arrow, Baskin Robbins, Bata, Jockey, KFC, Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Park Avenue, VIP, and Woodland

The mall features one of the largest hypermarkets, that offers all kinds of products for various categories. The mall also houses premium brands in all sectors such as jewellery, electronics & home appliances, gaming zone, seven multiplex theatres by Carnival group and much more that offers the best shopping experience.

One of the major highlights of the mall is its underground and terrace parking facility, that can hold over 1000 cars and 1,200 two-wheelers. The mall has a strong human resource, that offers a wide range of job opportunity for over 2000 people directly and 1000 people indirectly in accordance with the educational qualifications. “The mall has special pavilions on the outside premise to conducts various events and fest,” said Kishore Kutty, General Manager Operations, Mall of Travancore.

The mall would be open between 10 am and 11 pm on working days and 10 am and 12 pm on weekends.
