A self-driving test car operated by Uber, met with an accident last night at Arizona in US. According to reports, the Uber SUV collided with a woman, while she was crossing the road. Later due to the severity of the injury, woman died at the hospital.

Usually while testing autonomous test vehicles, a safety driver takes control, as if the self-driving system fails to interpret the real-time traffic. This time the car ran fully automated, that led to a causality.

Regarding the situation, Uber has halted all of its current test programmes in Pittsburgh, Toronto, San Francisco and Phoenix and have called a high-level security analysis to investigate the matter.

“Some incredibly sad news out of Arizona. We’re thinking of the victim’s family as we work with local law enforcement to understand what happened,” tweeted Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi.
