Uckermark designated as “Sustainable Destination”

Uckermark is the first region in Brandenburg to be designated a “Sustainable Destination”, and will be receiving the certificate from TourCert at ITB Berlin.

One of the most attractive landscapes in Germany, Uckermark, is located in northern Brandenburg between the Oder and Havel rivers. For the past year, consultants from TourCert, a specialist in tourism sustainability certification, have been providing Tourismus Marketing Uckermark GmbH with professional advice in order to ensure the future viability of this region for tourism. Back in 2012/13 the support by numerous local players on the tourism market helped the region to win the first nationwide competition for “Sustainable Tourism Regions”. As the first travel region in Brandenburg, Uckermark will now be receiving the “Sustainable Tourism Region” certificate from TourCert at ITB Berlin.

The particular value of this seal of quality for tourism in Uckermark lies in the long term, professional advice and support from an experienced agency, which has provided an outside perspective as well as extensive advice and suggestions. This is the culmination of a long process and this certificate also enables the region to continue to strengthen its position in the professional world and among destinations as well as introducing other activities that extend beyond tourism.

The presentation of the “Sustainable Destination” certificate will take place between 11 and 11.20 a.m. on Friday, 9 March in the Brandenburg Lounge in Hall 12.
