Uttar Pradesh to launch new tourism policy; ropes in McCann India
The Uttar Pradesh government has some big plans as far as tourism in the state is considered. The state is all set to come up with a new tourism policy. It has also surprised many by roping in McCann Erickson India, the Indian subsidiary of famous global marketing company, to brand UP as a tourism destination.
McCann India, with eminent lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi as its CEO, had already begun work with a tagline “UP nahin dekha toh India nahin dekha”, which means “If you have not seen UP, then you have not seen India”.
“The state government was implementing the Centre’s Prasada Yojana and Swadesh Darshan Yojana, including the Ramayan Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, Krishna Circuit and Spiritual Circuit to develop infrastructure facilities for the tourists. The government had been able to get Rs 500 crore under ‘Prasada’ scheme of the centre to give a boost to spiritual and religious tourism”, said minister for tourism Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
The UP government had signed MoUs with different organisations to provide air connectivity to 15 divisions of state and had reached an understanding with the Forest department to promote wildlife tourism. “The Dudhwa National Park would also be connected by air service,” she added.
