Govt pumps Rs 27 crore in Kollam

The southern coastal district in Kerala, Kollam, is all set to get some exciting projects to boost the tourism in the district. The government of Kerala has approved tourism projects worth Rs. 27 crore in Kollam.

Ashtamudi Lake, Kannetti Lake and Vattakkayal are some o the areas which would be getting a new touch. “A tourism project focussing on Ashtamudi Lake is under consideration. The possibilities of Kannetti Lake and Vattakayal will be explored,” says Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran said after inaugurating the Kannetti pavilion and lakeside tourism project. Ashtamudi Lake is the entrance to the famous backwaters of Kerala.

The government has also increased its assistance for conducting the Sree Narayana Jalolsavam, a colourful and vibrant water regatta on Chathayam (4th Onam), had been increased to Rs. 4 lakh from Rs. 1 lakh.
